Behind the Scenes at Boutique Blooms
Ever wonder what goes on behind the scenes at a flower shop? At Boutique Blooms, each day begins early and blooms with activity. From receiving fresh flowers to hand-delivering beautiful arrangements, here’s a glimpse into our daily routine.
Our day starts bright and early with a delivery from our flower supplier. Buckets of fresh blooms arrive at our shop and we count the stems to ensure we received what we ordered and nothing that we didn't. After the stems have been counted and confirmed, we get started on cleaning the blooms! Throughout this process, we carefully inspect each stem to make sure every flower meets our quality standards. We strip blooms of their leaves and pluck off any petals that aren't pretty. Once the blooms have been cleaned of leaves, we hydrate the flowers in clean buckets with fresh water and flower food. This step is essential to make sure your arrangements last as long as possible once they leave our shop.
Shortly after receiving our fresh blooms, we dive into the day’s orders. The floral designers begin creating custom arrangements for birthdays, anniversaries, sympathy arrangements, new babies—every bouquet tells a story, and we love being part of it!
After the arrangements have been made, they are carefully wrapped and carded with each customer's note card added to their arrangement to make it extra special. During the wrapping stage, we also ensure any guard petals are plucked off and there are no leaks in our bloom boxes before being loaded on the delivery truck.
Once the delivery driver creates his route for the day, he heads out across the Toronto area to bring joy right to doorsteps. From office buildings to front porches, we get to witness reactions that make our job so fulfilling.
Throughout the day, we welcome walk-in customers, help with last-minute bouquet requests, and respond to customer emails. As the day winds down, we clean the shop sweeping up all flower stems and petals as well as prepping our orders for the next day. Staying organized is the key to keeping things running smoothly!
